Recently, I was given an iPad from my mom. While on a call with her, I was talking about how I was thinking about getting one of those Wacom drawing tablets (the cheap $40 ones lol), because I want to start practicing digital art, and also just 2d art in general. She had got a new iPad recently, so in response she said she could actually just send me her old iPad instead, which I agreed would be much better than the Wacom, lol. It's not a super new or fancy one; it's one from 2019, but it's new enough to be able to use the Apple Pencil, and Procreate, so that's good enough for me! I have it now, and have bought and installed Procreate onto it, although I am still waiting on the Apple Pencil to arrive, since I ordered one off of eBay.
The reason I want to start practicing and improving at 2d art is because I think it will help improve my 3d art immensely as well. Being able to draw my own character designs, as well as create my own complex textures from scratch will help me greatly. Of course, for my 3d modeling & animation degree program, I actually do need to take quite a few art classes, mostly focusing around digital drawing and story boarding, so I also want to prepare for that as well. Those classes will start in the upcoming fall semester, and while they will start with a very basic art fundamentals class, I am not one who generally enjoys just waiting around. So in the mean time, I decided to sign up for an online art fundamentals class, one which uses Procreate as well. I am pretty eager to start that, although I will still have to wait for the Apple Pencil to arrive, which should be sometime next week, hopefully sooner rather than later!
Anyway, that's my short little artistic update, gotta start putting that .art domain to use after all, lmao. Also, I have to shout out Lito (ttto), because he gave me a lot of advice on what I should be using for digital art on iPads, so thanks again!
